Northside Second Graders Offer Donation from the Heart

Kids pool their money, find $100 for Sandy relief.

Students from Mrs. Tyler’s second grade class at Northside Elementary School wanted to do something to help fellow Long Islanders in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Through their own initiative, students decided not to ask others, but to donate funds themselves. The students reached into their own banks and pooled money from the tooth fairy, birthdays and allowances and donated a total of $100.48 to the American Red Cross.

The students truly showed how much they care for others, their teacher said.
