Whiz Kid: Matthew Rocha

Matthew Rocha is this week's Farmingdale Whiz Kid.

Each week, Farmingdale Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. Accomplishment: He has a 105.41 GPA in 9th grade and is in all honors classes, including Humanities and Wind Ensemble. He is both a musician - he plays the trombone in the marching band- and an athlete - he plays on the school soccer team and track team and on the Farmingdale Cosmos travel soccer team.

Although he is quite busy, he spends hours tutoring friends in math and is a counselor in training at

"Matt goes so above and beyond what is expected of him," said his mom Diane." He is a respectful and kind person and would do anything for anyone. We are very proud of him."
