Veterans Day Weekend at the American Airpower Museum

Visitors to the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport and the Cradle of Aviation at Mitchel Field, will get admission to the other facility free of charge over the Veterans Weekend of Nov. 12 and 13, when visitors will be able to sit in the cockpits of legendary aircraft. The Cradle of Aviation will open a number of aircraft cockpits to the public including three Grumman planes; the TBM Avenger of WWII, the twin engine G-21 Goose and the famous F-14 Tomcat. The American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport (1230 New Highway), will allow visitors to sit in the cockpit of the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt and the Douglas C-47 airborne transport plane. The Cradle of Aviation hosts Open Cockpit hours from noon to 4 p.m.

Admission: adults $14; $12 children and vets. There is an additional charge for the museum’s movie theater presentation. The American Airpower Museum is open from 10:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. Admission $10 adults; $8 seniors and veterans; $5 for children. Buy one admission and get the second museum free.
