Howitt Students Urge Support of Ban on Oversized Drinks

8th Graders draft letter to judge supporting Bloomberg's initiatives.

Eighth grade students at Farmingdale’s Howitt Middle School recently drafted a letter to a New York City judge in support of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Board of Health Department in their fight to ban oversized sugary beverages.

As part of the curriculum, the students in Ms. Kuhner’s Family and Consumer Sciences class took a creative approach in addressing the growing crisis of food portion distortion that has become a reported cause for a concern in a nation battling obesity.
