Northside Elementary Students Spend a 'Day in Clay'

Students worked with examples of Native American art.

Fourth graders in Farmingdale's Northside Elementary School recently learned how to make Native American themed-pottery in their art and social studies classes.

The students’ teachers and a ceramic expert provided students with examples and photographs of Native American art, and then properly demonstrated how to create a pot. The students then incorporated those techniques to create their own unique, one-of-a-kind pottery.

The students painted and decorated their pots using Native American colors, patterns, shapes and lines.
