Program combines social studies, English skills.

Farmingdale’s Woodward Parkway Elementary School fourth grade students recently participated in an activity that combined English-language arts and social studies skills.

The students learned about the Iroquois Nations and facts pertaining to their culture, beliefs, family life, symbols, traditions and appreciation for the natural world.

Students read the non-fiction text book, The Iroquois by Mary Englar, to compare the content of and facts pertaining to the story, Eagle Song by Joseph Bruchac.
