The Silver Lining Chronicles: May Is Older Americans Month

"Never Too Old To Play" is this year's theme for Older Americans Month.

In 1963, President John F. Kennedy dedicated the month of May as Senior Citizens Month.
In 1980, President Jimmy Carter renamed it Older Americans Month.

This year's theme is called "Never Too Old To Play."
All over the country, there will be public recognition for those 65 years and older with special events. Local libraries will offer health information, physical activities, computer classes and socials.

Social media is being used to get the word out. Pinterest, the latest to arrive, appeals to all of us visually. Here for some great ideas on how to celebrate the month. Farmingdale Library Pinterest Online Pinboard
