This is a letter to the editor submitted by the President of the Farmingdale Breakfast Rotary Club, Brendan Mahoney.
Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Farmingdale Breakfast Rotary, Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce and Farmingdale Community Summit organizations, we would like to thank the families of the Farmingdale community for their gracious, prompt and generous outpouring of support for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Working together, our three organizations hosted a donation drive at the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade and asked that Farmingdale residents donate much needed supplies, clothing and food for the Long Island families that were affected by the storm.
I am happy to report that we collected over two truckloads of donations. Food was donated to St. Kilian Church to restock their pantry, and supplies and clothing were donated to YES Community Counseling Center to be further distributed to families in need. Farmingdale responded in a big way by stepping up to the plate to help our neighboring communities who took the brunt of Hurricane Sandy.
We would also like to give a big thanks to the Farmingdale Village Mayor and Village Trustees as well as the Farmingdale Village Fire Department for their help in coordinating these efforts.
