No. 68: Donate Blood in Honor of 9/11 Victims

It's the next activity on our list of 100 things to do in Farmingdale.

Multiple fire departments across Long Island are teaming up with the Long Island Blood Service and radio stations WBAB and WBLI in an effort to get residents to donate blood in honor of 9/11 victims.

The goal is to reach one unit of blood for every casualty from 9/11 10 years ago. Every donor will receive a commemorative "Giving Life for Lives Lost” t-shirt as a thank you for participating.

on Conklin Street will be among one of the participating fire stations. Residents can make a donation at the station on Sept. 8 from 2-8 p.m.

If you're unable to make the drive in Farmingdale, but still want to make a donation, other local fire departments are hosting drives on different days.

The Hicksville Fire Department will be hosting their drive on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. The Bethpage Fire Department's blood drive will be happening on Saturday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
