Success Secret: How Philanthropy Develops Better Business Women
"Community Involvement: Giving Back Can Get You Where You Want to Go" is one of six topics offered at FMC Women's Empowerment Summit on May 16. The event, which runs from 7.30 a.m. to 12 noon at Briarcliffe College, Bethpage, N.Y., is designed for women in all facets of their careers, from those fresh out of college to the highly experienced worker in need of inspiration. Highlighting this year's event is a breakfast keynote by one of Long Island's most successful and well known women, Bernadette Castro, COO of Castro Convertibles and former New York State commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
Volunteer work is an excellent outlet for networking and can enhance your communication skills. Throwing yourself into an unknown environment and taking up new tasks widens your skill set and shows versatility, valuable assets to any employer. From where to start and who to talk to, the panel discussion "Community Involvement" will help women navigate their philanthropy.
Moderating the discussion will be Donna Vaughn, WALK 97.5 FM News Director. Expert Panelists include the Hon. Susan Berland, Huntington Town Board Councilmember, Amy Engel, Sustainable Long Island Executive Director, United Way, Long Island President and CEO, Theresa Regnante, and Judy White, CJ2 Communication Strategies Principal.
