2 Farmingdale Men Arrested in Confrontation

Nassau police say one was carrying shotgun.

Nassau police arrested two men early Wednesday morning after a confrontation on Merritts Road in Farmingdale.

Police gave this account:

Nassau officers, answering a call about two suspicious males dressed in black and wearing masks, found cousins Steven T. Halliday, 28 and Anthony P. Justiniano, 25, near 116 Merritts Road.  Halliday was carrying an American flag and Justiniano was wearing shotgun shells attached to a Remington 870 Express shotgun on a sling around his neck.

Ordered to drop the gun and get on the ground, neither man complied and made suspicious moves. Police used pepper spray on them and then arrested them. Justiniano was treated at a hospital for irritation from the spray.

Halliday was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct and loitering. Justiniano was charged with  one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer, disorderly conduct and loitering.

The two men, who live at 150 Merritts Road, Farmingdale, were arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
