Cadillac Burns at Busy Farmingdale Intersection

Farmingdale firefighters put down the blaze quickly at Conklin and Fulton streets.

Farmingdale firefighters were called to put out a smoky car fire that disrupted downtown traffic Thursday morning, firefighters said.

Firefighters stretched one hose line and extinguished the burning Cadillac quickly but not before the blaze did heavy damage to the vehicle. The fire was reported shortly after 10 a.m. at the intersection of Conklin and Fulton streets.

Conklin Street was closed in both directions for about 30 minutes as crews worked at the scene.

The cause of the car fire was under investigation; no injuries were reported, firefighters said.
