Cops Bust Two Men in East Farmingdale Drag Race

Arrests are part of an ongoing investigation.

Suffolk County Police have accused two men of drag racing in East Farmingdale.

First Precinct Crime Section officers witnessed the drivers of a 2003 Nissan 350Z and a 2002 BMW M3 drag racing in East Farmingdale just after midnight Saturday. The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation and the location of the race wasn't disclosed. 

Officers arrested the driver of the Nissan, Raymond Miranda, 21, of Dix Hills, at the scene. Following an investigation, Nicholas Manteria, 18, who was driving the BMW, was arrested today at his home in Wantagh, police said.

Miranda and Manteria were each charged with Illegal Speed Contest and Reckless Driving. The Illegal Speed Contest charge is a misdemeanor under the state's Vehicle and Traffic laws, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and fines up to $525, or both.

The vehicles were impounded and may be subject to forfeiture. The investigation is continuing, police said.
