Cops: Drunk Driver Was Doing 110 MPH on Parkway

New York City man was doing twice the speed limit eastbound on Southern State.

State Police pulled over the driver of a black Acura Thursday after clocking him at 110 mph on the Southern State Parkway.

The driver, Eric Miranda, 31, of New York City, was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated.

The incident took place just after midnight Thursday when Miranda's car was clocked at 110 mph heading eastbound on the Southern State near Route 110, troopers said. The speed limit is 55 on that stretch of the Southern State.

Miranda was given a sobriety test and police said his blood alcohol content was .09 percent, sufficient for a DWI arrest.

Miranda was charged with DWI and multiple traffic violations, including speeding at 110 mph in a 55 mph zone.

He is scheduled to appear in Nassau County First District Court on Aug 16.
