Cops: Hicksville Man Crashed into Home, Arrested for DWI

A Hicksville man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after his jeep crashed into a Hicksville home on Monday at 11:59 a.m, authorities said.

Police say John J. Broschart 73, of 111 Ballpark Lane was driving a 2013 Jeep north on Newbridge Road when he was struck from behind by a 2002 Jeep being driven by a 28-year-old man. Police did not release the name of the second driver's name.

Broschart’s vehicle then crossed the southbound lanes, crashed through a fence and continued into the rear of a house located on Blueberry Lane, police said.

One resident was assisted by a neighbor out of a second story window to safety.  There were no injuries reported inside the home, police said. 

The driver of the second vehicle refused medical attention at the scene, according to police. Broschart was placed under arrest and taken to an area hospital from treatment of minor injuries.

Broschart is charged with driving while Intoxicated and is to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
