Cops: Man Bought Pizza with Bogus $20 Bill

Suspect flees; police find him nearby hiding beneath car.

A Brooklyn man used a bogus $20 bill to buy pizza in Hicksville but was captured nearby hiding under a car, Nassau Police said.

Steven M. Baez, 28, of Avenue X, Brooklyn, passed the counterfeit twenty-dollar note to make a purchase at Pizza Cafe on Broadway just about 8 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Baez fled the scene on foot. Police were alerted and quickly located him hiding beneath a car on Chatham Court in Hicksville. He was placed under arrest without incident, police said

Baez is charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
