Cops: Man Drove Drunk with Two Children in Vehicle

A Bayshore man was arrested Friday for allegedly driving drunk while two children were in his vehicle, cops said.

According to New York State Police, at 8:50 p.m., a trooper from the Farmingdale station was patrolling the Southern State Parkway near Route 110 when he noticed the vehicle behind him moving in and out of the middle lane unsafely.

The vehicle, a gray Chevrolet pick-up truck, then moved past the trooper and drove across hazardous markings near the center median, police said. When the trooper pulled the car over, he detected "the odor of an alcoholic beverage" coming from the vehicle of Julio Ramos, 41.

Ramos allegedly failed sobriety tests and was arrested. There were two children in the vehicle, cops added.

Ramos allegedly produced a breath sample reading a .21 percent blood alcohol level, which is more than twice the legal limit. He was charged with aggravated DWI, felony DWI (at least one DWI conviction in the past 10 years) and traffic violations.

Ramos was held for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead. The children were released to a family member.
