Cops: Man Had Sexual Relationship with 12-Year-Old Boy

Defendant arrested in Farmingdale early Friday morning.

A Levittown man was arrested in Farmingdale early Friday morning after allegedly having a five-month long sexual relationship with a 12-year-old boy.

According to Nassau County detectives, 54-year-old Joseph Tucciarone befriended the boy in September 2012.

Police said Tucciarone would offer candy to the boy and a prolonged relationship developed. Tucciarone would invite the juvenile into his residence, allowing the boy to become comfortable with him.

In November 2012, police said the relationship became sexual and approximately 12 encounters at Tucciarone's residence occurred through April 2013.

The parents of the boy then learned of the relationship and contacted police.

After an investigation by the Special Victims Squad and with the assistance of the Nassau County Police Department Fugitive Squad and the United States Marshall’s Office, Tucciarone was located at a residence on Vanderwater Street in Farmingdale and taken into custody without incident.

Tucciarone was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual act in the first degree and course of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
