Cops: Mechanic Scammed S. Farmingdale Boss Out of $15,000

Middletown, N.Y., man arrested in Woodbury, charged with third degree larceny.

Nassau County Police arrested a mechanic Monday who they say scammed his employer out of more than $15,000.

While working as a mechanic at BMT Automotive in South Farmingdale, police say Shaune Rooks, 44, of Middletown, N.Y., ordered vehicle parts on the business account and installed them in customer’s cars on several dates.

He then demanded to be paid in cash and would issue an invoice to the customer and void the invoice in the business’ computer system.
