Cops: Motorcyclist Dies in Crash in Farmingdale

The incident took place on Hempstead Turnpike, police say.

A motorcyclist died in a car accident Friday at 8:53 p.m. in Farmingdale, authorities said.

Nassau detectives say, the motorcyclist, a 52-year-old man, was travelling west on Hempstead Turnpike on a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle.  A man, 48, was heading east in a 1998 GMC Yukon and was attempting to make a left turn into 4747 Hempstead Turnpike when the motorcycle collided with the vehicle.

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 9:50 p.m. by hospital personnel, according to police.

The Yukon was released from the scene after passing a brake and safety inspection. The motorcycle was impounded for safety checks.

There were no other injuries reported and there is no criminality at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Second accident I've read about recently with someone making a left in front of a motorcycle, and the biker dies. So sad. Why is everyone always in such a rush?

Why wasn't the deceased motorcycle rider ever identified by Newsday? Seems so strange...
