Cops Searching for Missing Alzheimer's Patient, 76.

Silver Alert issued for Alfred Nigro, who walked out of doctor's office in Jericho and hasn't been seen.

Nassau County Police are searching for a missing 76-year-old Bethpage man who walked out of his doctor's office on Jericho Turnpike Thursday morning.

Alfred Nigro, who suffers from Alzheimers disease, was last seen at the doctor's office at 400 Jericho Turnpike in Jericho. He walked out and disappeared on foot, traveling in an unknown direction at about 11 a.m. Thursday.

The Bethpage resident is described as 6-foot tall, 160 pounds with grey hair and blue eyes. Nigro was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, a dark green sweater and black shoes. Police believe he is traveling on foot.

Silver Alerts disseminate immediate information to local media, hospitals and other organizations when a senior citizen or other individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other cognitive disorders goes missing.

Police said Mr. Nigro is wearing a silver necklace with his name and address on it. The identification necklace notes he is suffering from Alzheimers, police said.
