Detectives took Eric Georgoulakos into custody Saturday morning while he was appearing in Queens County Court on an unrelated charge.
The arrest stems from a domestic argument that turned violent on Aug. 30 when police were called to a Grant Street home. There, a 53 year old father had been stabbed with a knife and had staggered into the street.
The victim's 23 year old son, Eric Georgoulakos, of the same Grant Street address, fled the scene and a manhunt was launched in the vicinity. The father was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted for treatment of his injuries.
Police learned later that Georgoulakos went to a neighboring Washington Street home and asked the residents if he could use the bathroom and the phone. After being admitted in the house, Georgoulakos took the keys to a tan 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer and fled the home, stealing that vehicle.
Georgoulakos was charged Saturday with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.
He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
