A report of the latest arrests and incidents around Farmingdale.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau and Suffolk County Police Departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Syosset

  • Multiple buildings were found spray-painted from June 29 to July 8 - the Astoria Federal Saving Bank, the S & S Repair Center, the Sail on Electric, the J and M Auto Repair, and Syosset Glass.
  • On July 4, client files were stolen from the Consumer First Law Office in Woodbury.

Hicksville

  • Second Squad detectives reported the details of an arrest for two burglaries that occurred in Hicksville and Elmont on June 21, 2011 and May 1, 2010 respectively. Nassau County detectives said that, on June 21, 2011, Kaisem Watkins, 23 years old, of 1425 Harrison St., Elmont entered a residence in Hicksville by breaking a bedroom window. When the victim returned home he discovered a bloody paper towel lying on the floor, noticed his credit card was missing and called the credit company to report it. The victim was told that his card has been used in a Target store in Hicksville. Detectives responded to Target and viewed the defendant, who had a towel wrapped around his wrist, on store surveillance, purchasing bandages with the card. On July 10, Target notified police that the defendant had returned to the store. Second Precinct police officers arrested him in the Broadway Mall.


East Meadow

  • Police have arrested four men for a string break-ins at phone stores across Nassau County from November 2010 through January 2011, according to officials. According to police, the men, identified as Valon Vailes, 19, of Hempstead and Charles Siebert, 18, Kareem Edney, 19, and Trevon Thompson, 18, all of Freeport, were allegedly responsible for the theft of iPads and cell phones.

   2.    Verizon, 49 Old Country Road, Westbury on 1/3/11
   3.    AT&T, 1000 Sunrise Highway, Massapequa on 11/10/10
   4.    AT&T, 316 Rockaway Turnpike, Cedarhurst on 11/28/10
   5.    T-Mobile, 1073 Northern Boulevard, Flower Hill on 1/2/11

Levittown

  • A Town of Hempstead Public Safety officer was arrested Thursday and charged with driving while intoxicated and manslaughter after he allegedly killed a man who was crossing Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau County police said on Friday. According to detectives, Robert Core, 42, of Hempstead, was responding to an emergency call in Levittown just before 11:30 p.m. when he struck a 50-year-old male, identified as Eddie Albert Cotto, of Lindenhurst, who was crossing southbound on Hempstead Turnpike in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue. Core was driving a Town of Hempstead Public Safety Vehicle.

Huntington

  • A 21-year-old Huntington was shot several times in downtown Huntington. Cory Culberth, 21, was standing in front of 6 Wall St. at about 2:50 a.m. Saturday when he was shot in his abdomen and left arm. Another bullet grazed his head, according to police. Culberth was transported in a private vehicle to Huntington Hosital where he is listed in serious condition. The suspect, is described as a black male between 20 and 25 years old, who fled the scene of the shooting north on Wall Street. Police are asking anyone information regarding this incident to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
