East Farmingdale Man, 87, Dies in Crash

Tuesday crash took place on Route 110 in North Amityville.

An 87-year-old East Farmingdale man has died following a two car crash Tuesday on Route 110.

Suffolk County Police said Chester Spinek, of Rome Street, East Farmingdale, died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a two-car crash in North Amityville.

Spinek's 1996 Saturn collided with a a 2005 Acura driven by Naresh Wadhwa, 38, on Route 110 at Nathalie Avenue in North Amityville. Police said Spinek was driving southbound on Route 110 when he attempted to make a left in front of Wadhwa's northbound car. The crash took place about 8:45 p.m.

Spinek was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, initially listed in serious condition. He died on Wednesday.

Wadhwa, of Lisa Lane in Bay Shore, was also transported to Good Samaritan where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for routine safety checks. The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash who has not been interviewed, to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152. All calls will be kept confidential.
