Farmingdale Man Charged in Attempted Robbery at Dunkin Donuts

Cops: Suspect demanded cash and threatened to use handgun; employee refused.

A Farmingdale man has been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at the Dunkin Donuts on Fulton Street just before midnight Tuesday.

Nassau County detectives said Clement Spanato, 47, of 462 Fulton St., Apt. 12, pulled up to the drive-thru window at the Dunkin Donuts located at 575 Fulton St. and demanded cash from the 42-year-old male employee.

The defendant threatened the use of a handgun, but never displayed one, police said.

The victim refused and the defendant left the scene. No injuries were reported.  The investigation led to the arrest of Spanato, without incident, at his residence Tuesday at 12:50 am.

Spanato is charged with attempted robbery and will be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
