Farmingdale Man Charged in Attempted Robbery at Dunkin Donuts

Cops: Suspect demanded cash and threatened to use handgun; employee refused.

A Farmingdale man has been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at the Dunkin Donuts on Fulton Street just before midnight Tuesday.

Nassau County detectives said Clement Spanato, 47, of 462 Fulton St., Apt. 12, pulled up to the drive-thru window at the Dunkin Donuts located at 575 Fulton St. and demanded cash from the 42-year-old male employee.

The defendant threatened the use of a handgun, but never displayed one, police said.

The victim refused and the defendant left the scene. No injuries were reported.  The investigation led to the arrest of Spanato, without incident, at his residence Tuesday at 12:50 am.

Spanato is charged with attempted robbery and will be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Do any of you regularly go through the drive-thru? Are you a little shocked by this?

This guy is 354 lbs., with COPD, $20000/yr drug habit, unemployed and lives with mommy. Do you really expect anything less?

"Virginia" you're a coward & bully & obviously an unenlightened person with significant emotional issues as demonstrated by the content of your post & the fact you try to damage another person through an anonymous verbal attack. If you had integrity & no fear you would have at minimum signed your name, or, left an indication of who you are so that the untruths you've written could be corrected in person. The details you allege indicate you know this man personally & possibly befriended him at on time. Identify yourself coward, so that the accused shall know his accuser. Look inside yourself & realize you're a coward, or, sign your name & face the consequences of bearing false witness & condemning a child of God. I await your identity so that justice can be served, served ice-cold & in the dark.
