LIPA Worker Injured Nearby After Truck Tips Over

Incident took place on Plainview Road Friday morning; worker rushed to NUMC.

A LIPA worker was injured Friday morning on Plainview Road after the truck he was operating tipped over while he was inside its aerial bucket.

The man was working on power lines inside tree branches about 15-feet high when the truck toppled about 8:50 a.m., hurling the man to the ground, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded to Plainview Road at Clearwater Drive and began treating the worker. He was placed on a gurney and then transported by Nassau County Ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center's trauma unit. His condition was not immediately available, authorities said.

The cause of the incident is unclear.

Plainview firefighters responded to the scene. LIPA was responding with a specialized crane to right the tipped truck, authorities said.

The incident took place on Plainview Road not far from the Old Bethpage line and just a few miles south of Farmingdale.
