2nd Update: LIRR Service Restored After Fatality

LIRR halted Ronkonkoma operation after woman was killed on tracks in Bethpage.

Long Island Rail Road service was restored in both directions Sunday on the Ronkonkoma line.

The line was suspended in both directions east of Bethpage after a woman was struck and killed on the tracks in Bethpage.

The suspension lasted about two hours. There are residual delays of 30 to 60 minutes, the LIRR said.

The railroad had urged customers to use the Montauk, Babylon or Port Jefferson branches until service is restored.

No further details were available on the accident.
