Person Struck, Killed by LIRR Train Near Bethpage Station

Incident took place east of the Bethpage station, an LIRR spokeswoman said.

A person was struck and killed by an eastbound Long Island Rail Road train in Farmingdale Tuesday evening, officials said.

The incident happened at about 6:18 p.m. east of the Bethpage station, an LIRR spokeswoman said. The victim was killed.

The 5:09 p.m. train from Penn Station had been heading east to Speonk. It was the only train affected and was on the move again at 7:30 p.m., operating 94 minutes late, the spokeswoman said.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim, a male, pending family notification. No other details were immediately available.

sometimes the "jumpers" wave goodbye to the conductor. it's very traumatic for the conductor and will probably change their lives forever. please don't do it

This was an elderly man with alzheimers not a suicide
