For the second time this week, an overdose victim in the area was revived using the powerful antidote Narcan on Saturday, Nassau police said.
Shortly before 4 p.m., police responded along with the Wantagh Fire Department to a residence on Logan Road in Wantagh after a 911 call reporting an 18-year-old male as unconscious with shallow breathing.
Family members told first responders that the teen, whose name was not released by police, had a history of heroin use, police said, and a paramedic administered Narcan, which is used to counter the effects of an opiate overdose.
The teen began to regain consciousness and was transported to Nassau University Medical Center via a Wantagh Fire Department ambulance for further evaluation and treatment, police said.
On Thursday, a 29-year-old who had overdosed on heroin was revived with Narcan at a Massapequa emergency medical center.
