Police Seek Mercedes in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Cops: Farmingdale man struck pedestrian, stopped; second car struck victim and fled.

Police are looking for the driver of a Mercedes who ran over and killed a pedestrian who had just been struck by another vehicle driven by a Farmingdale man.

The deadly hit-and-run crash took place just before 1 a.m. Sunday in front of El Rodeo Restaurant and Bar in Amityville Village, Suffolk County Police said.

Carlos Perez-Rodas, 26, was initially struck by a 2012 Toyota Corolla driven by Joshua Dauphin, 23, of Farmingdale, police said. Dauphin and others were trying to stop southbound traffic on Broadway when the Mercedes ran over Perez-Rodas and fled the scene, police said.

No one has been charged in the incident, police said.

Perez-Rodas, of Uniondale, was transported by West Babylon Fire Department Ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead, police said

Police are looking for a late model, dark-colored Mercedes last seen heading southbound on Broadway in Amityville Village.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Vehicular Crimes Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 631-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
