Farmingdale firefighters put out a relatively small fire at the foundation of trailer parked at Bethpage State Park late Wednesday.
Firefighters suspect arson was the cause at the trailer, left behind by the recent Barclays Tournament.
This begs the question: what's going on?
Any thoughts from parents and young people about what happens after dark in Bethpage State Park? Is it a known hangout for young people, or is this an isolated incident.
Bethpage is one of the jewels of the state park system. It opened in 1932 and comprises nearly 1,500 acres of open space between Farmingdale and Old Bethpage and boasts five golf courses, among other amenities.
Surely there are other hangouts for kids, but why are they out so late. And the park is patroled.
