Upstate Woman Arrested for DWI on Route 109

Police: Suspect spotted driving erratically from Massapequa to Farmingdale.

An upstate woman was busted for driving drunk on the Southern State Parkway using a license that's been suspended more than 10 times, state police said.

Heidi Herring, 38, of Fishkill, was spotted traveling east on the Parkway near Hicksville Road in Massapequa Sunday morning. She was driving erratically, according to police.

Troopers were dispatched, and said they saw Herring making an unsafe exit at Route 109 in Farmingdale where she was stopped.

The smell of alcohol was detected in the vehicle, Herring's eyes were watery and bloodshot and she was slurring her speech, police said.

She failed a sobriety test and produced a breath sample of  0.32 Blood Alcohol Concentration, four times the legal limit of 0.08.

Herring was charged with driving while intoxicated and felony aggravated unlicensed operation for having more than 10 suspensions.  She also faces several traffic violations.
