Police: Written Threat Prompts Evacuation of Seaford Middle School

Police determine school safe early Wednesday afternoon and allow students back inside building after a threatening note was discovered in a bathroom.

Seaford Middle School students were evacuated from classrooms Wednesday morning as a precaution after a written threat was discovered in a bathroom, according to police officials. .

A spokeswoman for the Nassau County Police Department Public Information Office said the threatening note was found by an administrator at 9:35 a.m. School officials then notified police, who responded to investigate the building.

Police said at 12:18 p.m., police determined the building to be safe and students returned back inside for classes. The nature of the written threat was not provided by police.

Wednesday was the third time in the last 27 months that a Seaford School District building was investigated by police following written threats. On Sept. 21, 2011 and Oct. 19, 2010, Seaford High School was evacuated when bomb threats were discovered written on bathroom walls.

Students were reportedly put in the gym not evacuated. Andrew- I think you should dig into this one a bit more. If it was the gym, that's a terrible plan.

Yes. Especially if it was a bomb threat which is what the rumors were. And even the students said why would they not evacuate us? Something is not right here on all levels!!!

We've got a much better chance for the patch's self appointed Heckle and Jerkle to chime in 10 more times than we do hearing from the SD.

Maybe they said they "evacuated" the classrooms. Poor journalism. With all due respect - news 12 got it wrong too and caused a frenzy across the Island. But the school district is the one that got it really wrong by not doing the right thing by telling the whole story. Not even the parents. Now that would be a newsworthy story to report!!!!
