Oyster Bay will host the Long Island Senior Softball Association’s (LISSA) Division 5 “All-Star” Game on Monday evening, Oct. 7, at John J. Burns Town Park.

“This game will feature some of the top senior recreational softball players on Long Island,” said Supervisor John Venditto. “These accomplished players compete at very high level and are exciting to watch.”

LISSA’s Division 5 is a league for players 68 and older with many players in their 80s taking the field. The league has eight teams and plays throughout the spring and summer, holding doubleheaders on Monday and Wednesdays.

The league chose to return Burns Park, located on Merrick Road in Massapequa, which features a professionally maintained softball field equipped with lights and a synthetic turf field.

“I am proud that the Town of Oyster Bay has been selected to host this event,” Venditto said. “It speaks well about our outstanding fields and facilities, which are among the finest in the nation.”

Admission is free; the game starts at 6 p.m.
