Tell Us: Sandy and Farmingdale Jobs

An area economist named the storm as a factor in Long Island's sluggish job market. How concerned are you?

The unemployment rate in Nassau County jumped in November compared to November of 2011 and Hurricane Sandy may have played a role.

“These numbers incorporate both the effects of the recent storms and structural weaknesses within key sectors of our economy," Long Island Association's Chief Economist Pearl Kamer said.

In November, the jobless rate in Nassau was 7 percent – highest for that month in two decades – compared with 6.4 percent a year earlier.

We want to know how much Sandy is going to impact the job market. Has it been felt in Farmingdale? Weigh in with your comments.
