The third annual Homeowners Cleanup is scheduled for June 18. TOBAY residents are asked to take unwanted, non-hazardous rubbish to the Town’s Solid Waste Disposal Complex in Bethpage from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Bushes, tree limbs, fence posts and similar items will be accepted as is and do not need not be broken into smaller pieces. Used tires, large metal items in excess of four feet, clean fill, clean broken concrete and boats and boat trailers will also be accepted in addition to passenger cars, vans and pickup trucks.
Residents bringing boats must provide proof of ownership of any boats or trailers. The boats must be drained of all oil, gas and other fluids, and all batteries must be removed.
Six-wheel or larger vehicles are not permitted. Businesses are not eligible to participate and proof of district residency is mandatory for residents.
“For many people, when the cleaning urge hits, they just want to get rid of the rubbish as soon as possible and not have to look at it until the next collection day,” Councilwoman Rebecca Alesia said. “If you’re one of those people, a Homeowners Cleanup day might be just the catalyst you need to tackle that garage or basement cleanup you’ve been putting off.”
The next Homeowners Cleanup dates are Saturday, July 16; Saturday, August 20; Saturday, September 24; Saturday, October 15; and Sunday, November 6.
Take a Stay-cation in Oyster Bay
If you’re looking for something fun and enjoyable to do this summer, the Town of Oyster Bay has a variety of places of interest right at your doorstep, according to Town Councilman Joseph Pinto.
“If you’re looking for some great places to take your family this summer, you don’t have to travel far from home, or spend a lot of money,” Pinto said. “With these brochures in hand, you can plan some fun and educational outings that can easily be made in a day.”
The brochure includes historical places of interest in the Town of Oyster Bay like Sagamore Hill (the home of President Theodore Roosevelt) and the Northrop Grumman History Center (which houses a collection of memorabilia and exhibits recalling the historic accomplishments of Grumman in aerospace and defense)
Copies of these free brochures are available at any of the Town Halls, Town parks or on www.oysterbaytown.com.
