Village Renews Fire Agreement with TOBAY

The village fire department will continue to serve TOBAY's Northeast Farmingdale Fire Protection District.

The board renewed a fire services contract with the Town of Oyster Bay at their .

According to , TOBAY reimburses the village to provide fire protection services to more than 300 TOBAY homes and commericial properties that fall outside the village's jurisdiction.

"You can't get to them without going through the Village of Farmingdale," said trustee Ralph Ekstrand.

In the intermunicipal agreement, the town will pay the village approximately $60,000 this year to cover the area classified as the Northeast Farmingdale Fire Protection District. 

"As a village resident [fire protection] is in your village tax line," Starkie said. "The Town of Oyster Bay levies the taxes to those residents and they send the money to us."

In this year's contract, the village will receive nearly $10,000 more in reimbursement because some mathematical adjustments had to be made, trustees said.

"The village has since I can remember provided fire services for them," Starkie said. "This is a contract we've had for a long time, just a continuation."
