Town to Set Hearings on Beechwood Plan, Fast Food Place

One involves the long debated property at Round Swamp and Old Country Road in Plainview.

The Oyster Bay Town Board will consider two resolutions Tuesday to set dates for public hearings that are likely to draw attention.

One involves the application of Plainview Properties and Beechwood for the zoning change that would allow them to build a large new housing development on the southwest corner of Old Country Road and Round Swamp Road in Plainview.

A previous public hearing on this development was slated, then cancelled, after a public outcry in April.

The second hearing involves a proposal from a group called 4440 Sunrise Property Corp., which is asking for a special use permit for a fast food restaurant with a drive-through service on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa.

Patch will have an update later Tuesday following this morning's meeting.
