Video: Protesters Defend Union Rights, Education Spending at Rally

MoveOn.org sponsored a protest on Main Street in Farmingdale on Tuesday.

More than 40 supporters of union rights and other issues voiced their opinions at the "Defend the Dream" protest on Main Street in Farmingdale on Tuesday.

The protest was organized by John Moore, a Farmingdale resident involved with the groups Organizing for America, the Long Island Progressive Coalition and MoveOn.org, the organization that officially sponsored the protest.

Protesters chanted about the Republican attacks on workers and public programs currently escalating in Wisconsin and Washington D.C. They also defended and spoke against the tea party movement.

"I grew up in a America that said if you work an honest day you make an honest dollar," said Bob McKay, a Long Island teacher and representative from MoveOn.org. "I want my America back."

A Bronx cheer to the Long Island Regressive Coalition and that other quisling group.

Show some respect for the people who built this country, Robbie boy, instead of sitting there getting your pretty boy "gee, I hope to grow up to become a crook just like Walker and rip off the workers of this country and get really really rich" photograph, but need to dirty our great country's flag to try to give yourself some credibility. Try working for a living like tax-paying hard-working middle-class people do!

"I grew up in America where an honest day earned an honest dollar" this person states .... Where does it state that anyone is immune of daily accountability (tenure) and a tier pay system (rather than one based on merit)? Where does it state that one gets to retire with full pension and medical at 55 year of age (courtesy of Mr and Mrs TaxPayer?) Forgive me, but this guy may have forgotten WE pay the taxes and WE are HIS employer along with his political croonies!

If it walks like a socialist and it talks like a socialist, then it must be the Long Island Progressive Coalition. From its website: "The LIPC was born at the initiation of the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (since become Democratic Socialists of America) and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, seeking to realize DSOC Chair Michael Harrington's vision of being 'the left-wing of the possible.'
