Village Water District To Flush Mains

Routine maintenance begins Nov. 1; water is safe to drink.

The Village of Farmingdale will be flushing water mains throughout its service area next month as part of its regular maintenance program.

The routine flushing, which will begin Friday Nov. 1, is designed to remove any accumulation of dissolved materials which may have settled in the mains.

The water district says slight water pressure variations or discolored water could be obvious during this period. Water uses, such as laundering of clothes, may be affected because of the discoloration of the water.

But the district stresses that the water is perfectly safe to drink, even during the flushing period.

The process begins Friday, Nov. 1 about 10:30 p.m. and should be completed by the 6:30 a.m. the next morning, Saturday Nov. 2.
