At Saltzmen Elementary, a Lesson About Age.

VENN diagrams used to show similarities between age groups.

Second grade students at the Farmingdale School District’s Saltzman East Memorial Elementary School recently learned how to use VENN Diagrams by turning to their slightly older peers.

The students paired up with their fourth grade friends to discuss some of their differences and commonalities, such as their favorite foods and sports teams.  Their findings were later put to use to create VENN Diagrams, which served as a visual representation of the likes and interests students compared and contrasted.

VENN diagrams show all possible logical relations between a finite collection of sets.

The exercise not only proved to be anl illustration of the benefits of using a VENN Diagram but demonstrated to the students they have much common in spite of their age differences.
