Election Results Unknown, Radio Station Goes Off Air, Open House at Farmingdale State

A weekly rundown of happenings from the campus of Farmingdale State College.

Last week brought elections for the Farmingdale Student Government.  On the ballot were choices for various positions and a referendum as to whether or not the $200 per year mandatory student activity fee would remain mandatory.

More than one week after the elections were completed, election results have still not been released to the campus community. Many students are perplexed as to why the results are taking so long to release.  “We know who is elected President that night,” said one student, referring to the relative speed, of student elections compared to national contests.  The Student Government made use of the Suffolk County Board of Election’s electronic voting machines, which offer instant tallies of all votes cast.  Attempts at establishing contact with representatives from the Farmingdale Student Government have been unsuccessful.
