Elections, Open House, Cabaret at Farmingdale State

A weekly rundown of the happenings from the campus of Farmingdale State College.

This past week there was an outbreak of Democracy at , as students headed to the polls to cast their ballots for FSG officers, and to decide whether or not the student activity fee will remain mandatory or not.

Elections were officiated by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, and featured the new electronic voting machines that have been used in previous local and national elections. The machines work by reading a ballot on which the voter fills in bubbles corresponding to his or her decisions, similar to a standardized test. The process is fairly straight foreword, however, Board of Elections workers were on hand to assist any students who had questions.

Voting took place at several locations on campus, including at Roosevelt Hall on Tuesday, and in Gleeson and Knapp Hall on Wednesday. Results of the elections will be published in next week’s edition of this series.
