Farmingdale Breakfast Rotary Presentation on Preventing Sudden Death in Sports

Sudden death in sports is associated with vigorous exercise.  Though rare, this March alone, there were four sudden deaths among sports-playing high schoolers.  Studies show that there are 50 to 100 sudden deaths among athletes in middle, high school and college every year.

The Farmingdale Breakfast Rotary and its Foundation believe it is time for a Community Call to Action for shared responsibility for sports safety among athletes, parents, coaches and sports organizations.

At this meeting, the Breakfast Rotary will present guest speaker, Marc Horowitz, president, First Scan Health, who will discuss and demonstrate a revolutionary, non-invasive, clinically proven advanced cardio scan known as the MCG (multifunction cardiogram).  The MCG is quick (82 seconds for the test) with results ready in less than 10 minutes and has the same level of accuracy regardless of age or gender.  This breakthrough technology may make the difference by detecting an underlying heart problem which would require further medical attention before a student participates in a strenuous school sport.
