The Farmingdale High School Science Olympiad Team is heading to the New York State competition after a top 10 finish at Nassau County regionals.
The team finished in sixth place out of 38 Nassau high school teams and earned two medals at the regional competition held in February. This was the first time Farmingdale has made it into the top ten.
"We are all so proud of our students' tremendous accomplishments," said Theresa Bianco, a chemistry teacher who is one of the team's coaches.
The following Farmingdale High School students participated in the Nassau County Science Olympiad: Devika Gupta, James Keenan, Gary Kenny, Ellie Laloudakis, Brian Entwistle, Robert Brienza, Nakul Gupta, Caeley Looney, Emily Grote, Isabel Mormine, Angelo Mauro, Robert Golebiewski, Elijah Mas, Matt Caixiero,Josh Murthy, Amrita Mohip, Nitasha Sharma, Katie Gilleran, Amanda Baker, Brian Yakkey, Brendan Pincus, Kenny Meyerhoffer, Rob Davis, Sean Mohan, Victoria Kaufman, Sara Mohip, Alex Molina, Jonathan Leifer, Ann Lin, Leah Ragno, Prateek Khurana, Zhe Chen, Nita Masood, Megan Barrow, TJ Knight, Vincent Gullino, Alec Szigeti, Sabatina Mauro, Amelia Makhanlall and Caitlin Mazura.
The next level of competition, the New York State Science Olympiad, will be held at Canisius College in Buffalo on March 30 and 31.
