Farmingdale School Budget Passes

Farmingdale voters approved a $156 million budget on Tuesday for the 2014-15 school year.

With a final tally of 1,516 to 626 in favor, residents within the Farmingdale School District can expect to see a 1.74 percent increase in their collective tax levy in the following year. The budget falls within the tax levy capital limit.  

Voters approved by 1,583 to 497 a proposition to appropriate up to $985,000 from the capital reserve fund to complete asbestos abatement and renovate windows and a curtain wall in the pedestrian bridge at Howitt Middle School. The also approved by 1,523 to 514 $593,845 in funding for the Farmingdale Youth Council, a cooperative youth recreation initiative between the school district and Farmingdale village.

John E. Capobianco, an incumbent, won his seat with 1,597 votes. Ralph Morales won with 1,437 votes.
