School officials often find themselves trying to explain the differences between the much publicized 2 percent "tax cap" and the reality of a resident's tax bill.
The reasons for the differences have to do with assessments in the various municipalities and other factors, some of them complicated.
The Farmingdale School District has put together an online presentation addressing the various questions. It helps to clarify why some bills seem on or close to the announced tax increases and others simply don't.
