Grief Counselors Help Farmingdale Students, Staff Cope with Death of 5 Teens

Grief counselors are now providing support in the Farmingdale School District, helping students and staff cope with the death of five students who died after a crash on Conklin Street on Saturday.

"We are extremely saddened over the loss of four current and one former high school student in a tragic car accident Saturday morning," Farmingdale Superintendent John Lorentz said in statement.

"This has been a heartbreaking time for our Farmingdale School District community as well as the greater Farmingdale community," he added.  "There is nothing more devastating than losing a child. We extend our deepest condolences to the students’ families and friends."

Farmingdale schools will provide grief counseling and support groups for as long as necessary, according to the district, to help "our students and staff throughout the coming weeks during this difficult and emotional period," Lorentz said.
