Healthy Habits at Farmingdale Schools

New initiatives this year at Saltzman East Memorial promote healthy eating.

Several new programs this year are emphasizing healthy eating choices at in the Farmingdale School District.

The school’s Wellness Committee spent time this year examining the nutritional value of the snacks offered to students and as a result have initiated two new programs to encourage healthy eating called “The Apple a Day Club” and “Fruit Smoothie Fridays.”

Every time a student eats a fruit or vegetable instead of a junk food item, the student is recognized for their healthy decision with an “apple” with their name honor in the hallways of the school. Additionally, every Friday fruit smoothies are made available as a nutritious choice.
