LaSalle Regional School Enters Final Week

Emotional prayer service planned for Tuesday night at St. Killians Auditorium to bid farewell to Farmingdale's Catholic elementary school.

Monday marked the last full day of classes at the Roman Catholic elementary school in Farmingdale, slated to close forever by the by the end of the week.

Current students were treated to an afternoon picnic at the school Monday afternoon and will be dismissed early Tuesday. A prayer service is scheduled for Tuesday night at St. Kilian's auditorium for 7 p.m. A reception will follow.

Wednesday marks the official final day of classes. Even the school's website is slated to disappear in July.

The elementary school, serving students from kindergarten through the eighth grade, has been serving four Catholic parish communities for about 20 years, including St. Kilian's in Farmingdale,, St. Martin of Tours in Bethpage and St. James in Seaford. The diocese decided to close the school as a cost cutting move.
